EVALUASI HAMBATAN SISWA SD DALAM MENJAWAB SOAL MATEMATIKA BERBASIS HOTS

Abstract


This research aims to evaluate elementary school students' obstacles in answering mathematics questions based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Mathematics plays an important role in developing critical, concrete and creative thinking skills, but many students find difficulty in understanding and working on HOTS questions. The research methodology used is a qualitative method with a case study design, involving grade 5 students at SDN 105288 Sei Rotan. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews and analysis of student work documentation. The results of the analysis show that students are not used to thinking critically and logically, which hinders their ability to solve HOTS questions. Learning that is more oriented towards memorization results in a lack of practice in critical thinking. In overcoming these difficulties, it is recommended that teachers apply learning based on conceptual understanding, use manipulative media, and apply a collaborative approach. Through this strategy, it is hoped that students can develop critical thinking skills and improve the quality of mathematics learning.
